Acupuncture a Powerful Integrative Oncology Tool
by Jack Bleeker, Research Coordinator
Integrative Oncology is the combination of “mainstream” care and evidenced-based complimentary therapies to control cancer-related pain and symptoms [source: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Integrative Medicine]. Complementary therapies, while not given the attention that more traditional cancer therapies may receive, are perhaps equally important while undergoing treatment for certain types of cancer.

Tai Chi “The Software”
by Fernando Bernall, AP, DOM, Ac Dipl., CPT-IFPA
It has now been over two decades since I first started my study and practice of tai chi.. Many of those years were under the guidance of my teachers. But a large portion of this time span has been self-study along with self-correction.

At that time, I had no idea what a “Stand Down” was but it really didn’t matter so I agreed.
Turns out, that a “Stand Down” is a three day weekend organized by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ and it was to become one of the most memorable days in my life…

Lyrica
by Fernando Bernall, AP, DOM, Ac Dipl., CPT-IFPA
If the title sounds like the words to a song, well, Lyrica® may just be sending Pfizer Inc. singing their way to the bank once more. The FDA has just approved Pregabalin AKA Lyrica® as a treatment for fibromyalgia (FM) and has released on their website an article about it named: “Living with Fibromyalgia”. How about “Living WITHOUT fibromyalgia”.
Now, I have my own theory regarding fibromyalgia, and I’ll write about it soon. But how is it that a drug that has been approved for treating seizures, pain from shingles and pain associated with diabetes nerve damage has now become the first drug to treat fibromyalgia?
